Guri,
Danish Language Lead

In-House Translator & One of Our Leads on All Things Danish

Guri is one of our Danish in-house translators. If you ask her to explain her job to a child, she’ll say she helps rewrite stories in a different language so that everyone can understand them – kind of like magic, but for words. She holds a Master’s in Translation and Interpreting from Aarhus University and considers her defining traits to be thoroughness and ambition. She’s detail-obsessed, and yet somehow always manages to squeeze just one more project into her schedule.

Her catchphrase at work is simple but iconic: ‘Don’t worry, I’ll take care of it.’ And she means it. She’s a master multitasker who can juggle dozens of deadlines without losing track. Personality-wise, she’s part nerd (she identifies with the 🤓 emoji), part Christmas fanatic (🎅 might be her second alter ego), and definitely a Swiftie – her go-to karaoke is anything by Taylor Swift. On her desk, you’ll always spot her cactus in a cowboy-boot pot, and you just know her day is better when all her stationery matches in colour.

When the workday ends, Guri’s all about the couch life – whether it’s movies, books, or the PlayStation. She also has a not-so-secret love for building LEGO sets, proving she’s got patience and creativity in spades. As for fuel? She runs on tea, Coca-Cola and a steady supply of M&Ms.

If her life were a movie, it would definitely be a feel-good rom-com with a Taylor Swift soundtrack. Her dream teleportation lunch spot? The beach, no hesitation. And while she admits her ‘hidden talent’ isn’t exactly party material, being able to sleep anywhere, anytime is still pretty impressive (and enviable).

Some of her favourite memories with the team are the legendary Christmas dinners – fun, cosy, and filled with laughter. Guri brings client-specific knowledge to the group that no one else quite matches, and she wouldn’t trade her job for anything (sorry guys, no swaps!). To her, Comunica is supportive through and through. And if the team were ever stranded on a desert island, she’d be the one anxiously cooking up escape plans and strategies to get everyone home safe.
