Signe,
Danish Translator
Signe is one of our brilliant Danish translators. She’s happiest when she’s knee-deep in text, tinkering with words until they sound just right. Some days, she’s a model of efficiency, and other days she happily gets lost down a rabbit hole of syntax and synonyms – either way, the end result is always polished perfection. Her superpower is staying (fairly) organised while juggling what feels like a million tiny tasks, and while technology isn’t exactly her best friend, she’s proud that a new CAT tool or a runaway Excel file no longer feels like the end of the world. Progress!
Signe holds degrees from both the Autonomous University of Madrid and Aarhus University and she speaks Danish, English, Spanish plus a little German, Norwegian and Swedish. She lives in Spain and loves the laid-back lifestyle and the vibe in the office. If she were an emoji, she’d be 😎 – not out of coolness, but because she believes the world needs more self-deprecating humour. On her desk, you’ll always find her noise-cancelling headphones, because she spends much of her life happily bubbled up in music and words.
Outside work, Signe recharges by marching (not strolling!) up and down the mountain with those same headphones on. She’s a music lover through and through, and is borderline obsessed with the Danish radio station P6 Beat – so much so that she’ll even catch up on yesterday’s show if she missed it. Coffee is a ritual for her, not just a drink, and while she’s not devoted to any one snack, she’s definitely devoted to snacking in general.
Her favourite memory with Comunica is her very first afternoon with the team on the terrace, when she realised she had landed in exactly the right place: Surrounded by kind, professional and genuine people who embody the values she cares about. She brings dedication to the team in her own way – working every other weekend to make up for her shorter days so she can spend more time with her daughter. When asked if she’d swap jobs with anyone, she laughs – ‘No ma’am, I’m good where I am.’ For her, Comunica is best summed up in one word: Understanding. And if the team ever washed up on a desert island, Signe would be the one building a shelter – former scout badges and countless re-watches of Lost have prepared her well.
