Translation Tech
Translation technology helps us both perform and manage our work more effectively. It analyses content, identifies repetitions and part-repetitions, flags terminology and lays the foundation for an accurate, quality-conscious and super-efficient workflow.
Beyond that, translation technology can also be used to produce automated translations that our human linguists can then edit, adapt and improve – and it can even be used as a powerful tool in the creation of original content.
CAT Tools
Computer-assisted translation tools are the cornerstone of the localisation industry. These programmes present two columns – one for the source text and another for the translation – alongside a range of essential features that work to promote accuracy, efficiency and quality.
At Comunica, we work with a range of different CAT tools, depending both on what we consider is best suited to the project at ahand and also on client needs and preferences. Some of our favourites include BureauWorks, memoQ, Phrase, CrowdIn and XTM.
AI Translations
We use AI technology as part of a hybrid translation workflow to instantly produce impressively accurate and fluent pretranslations that our human linguists can then adapt and refine.
What’s more, we can apply this approach to a wide-range of different projects, including high-volume and time-sensitive texts that would otherwise take weeks or even months to translate. Read more here.

Killer Consistency
Termbases and translation memories ensure that terms are always translated consistently – both within each individual text and across your entire document ecosystem.
AI, LLMs, NLP …
These days, the localisation industry is a veritable alphabet soup of different acronyms and abbreviations. What they mean for you is as simple as this: Faster, better and cheaper translations. So forget the letters and leave the heavy lifting to us – from tool selection and implementation to final, flawless delivery.

What are translation technologies?
Translation technologies are software tools designed to support, automate or streamline the process of translating content from one language to another. They help linguists work faster, more consistently, and with greater accuracy – especially when handling large-scale multilingual projects or translations into several different languages.
How much involvement do human linguists have?
This varies from project to project and depends primarily on two things: (1) the nature of the content and (2) your own objectives and priorities. We offer a range of different options, from AI translation with light editing to full transcreation that uses AI only for inspiration and research. You can read more about the different options here.
How do you use language technology to ensure quality?
We use language technology to power our QA procedures. The tools we use not only spot grammar and spelling mistakes, but they can also detect potential mistranslations, syntax irregularities, unidiomatic language and overly literal translations. Termbases and translation memories, meanwhile, safeguard consistency and ensure that recurring texts are not needlessly translated more than once. You can read more about our QA procedures here.
How can you fit into our existing localisation setup?
Language technologies don’t just assist with the actual translation process. They support the entire ecosystem around each translation – and this includes seamless integration with your CRM, CSM and localisation setup. You can read more about this on our integrations page, here.
Why can’t I just do it myself with DeepL or another tool?
This is a good question – and we know this is something that marketing managers hear a lot from their bosses higher up the chain. The thing is, AI is great, but it’s not a fool-proof, oven-ready solution. It’s a wide world of different tools and possibilities, but also of pitfalls and problems.
If you aren’t able to connect the dots and build systems that work, relying on AI can be a difficult and even dangerous approach. You have a global reputation to protect. Putting too much trust in AI is like letting an outsider loose on your marketing department. It’s bold, risky and there’s no reason to believe it will pay off.
It’s also important to remember that AI isn’t free, and there’s so much needed to make it work. The idea that it does everything for us entirely on its own is a fallacy – and potentially a risky one.
So yes, you can do it yourself – but would you really want to? Or would you rather trust an expert who knows what they’re doing and can promise quality results? For us, the answer is clear.
