Why choose transcreation over translation?

The distinction between these two services lies in the amount of liberty the linguist can take. In a translation project, the linguist will stick more closely to the shape, feel and design of your original text. In a transcreation project, they will have more freedom to mould and adapt your content to the target market and its unique culture. This makes transcreation suitable for targeted marketing texts that seek to deeply resonate with readers and help convert or nudge them along in their customer journey.

Why is it called post-editing?

The term post-editing comes from the longer, more descriptive term ‘machine-translation post-editing’ or MTPE for short. This is the standard industry name for a machine-translation-based workflow. Here, we start with what’s known as a pre-translation – a text translated automatically by our specially configured translation tool. This is then revised, edited and adapted by a human linguist to ensure accuracy, consistency and readability. The main advantage of this service is the speed, cost and efficiency gains it offers. Or to put it as simply as possible, post-editing is a way to reap the benefits of the latest language technology while also taking steps to mitigate and neutralise the risks.

Is glossary creation necessary?

Whether or not you should opt for our glossary creation service will depend on two things: (1) whether your texts contain lots of niche, technical or preferential terms and (2) how extensive your localisation needs are. If you plan on localising continuously within an industry or company that has its own niche vocabulary, then creating glossaries will give you a solid foundation and make everything easier and more seamless going forward.You may also have your own preferred terms – and creating a glossary is the best way to ensure they are deployed consistently.
