FAQs

Check out some of the most common questions we get about pricing and localisation costs.

Got a question you can’t see answered on this page? Get in touch and we’ll add it!

Why does human translation cost more?

Because it requires more hours of work. Our human linguists spend more time creating their translations and shaping them from scratch. This increases the price, but it also results in a better and more native flow, and generally in texts that are more engaging and better able to convince and convert. Whether or not this will generate value for you will depend on your specific project type. Read more here.

I can’t find a suitable time in the calendar. What can I do?

Contact us directly. We work on CET, so if you are outside of this time zone, it might be more difficult to find a slot that suits. Please feel very welcome to reach out, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your request. You can use our contact form here.

Why is it worth paying extra for revision?

Revision (or proofreading) is generally good practice when it comes to any kind of text creation. A fresh pair of eyes will bring a different perspective to the text and increase the probability of eliminating small errors and imperfections. We can also use the revision step to involve domain-specific expertise in the case of projects that span different subject areas. If you’re not sure whether you really need this or not, we can advise you on what is best for you and your text.

Why do you offer both human and machine options?

Because human and machine translation both make sense in different situations. For example, clients with limited budgets and factual texts can get excellent results from machine translation. Human translation, on the other hand, is better for texts that aim to convince readers and sell products or services. Check out our slider above to get a better sense of what is right for you.

What is the difference between transcreation and translation?

Translation remains true to the original text, while transcreation involves making changes to adapt the text to a particular purpose. For example, this might mean adding additional information of relevance to the target readership, or adapting the humour or wordplay in a text so that it can work just as well in its new context. To make this possible, clients typically need to provide a brief for transcreation so we can understand exactly what you want to achieve and craft something that will perfectly hit the mark. What kind of ROI can I expect from translating my website?

Translating your website opens the doors to new markets, customers and revenue. To get an idea of the value, take a look at how many visitors you are currently getting from your target markets. What is the scope to increase the numbers by allowing these visitors to access content in their own language? And what kind of value would this uplift in sales mean to your bottom line? This should give you an idea of the potential – and you can always reach out for more assistance on calculating ROI. There is plenty of research to show that localisation yields returns, and we’ve been in this business long enough to advise on what it can do for you. Click here to drop us a line.
